There's No Place Like Home

Jay and I made it home safely today. It was a three hour drive instead of a two and a half hour drive. I think that's pretty good! Jay slept most of the way and slept some more after we got home. I still have quite a bit to unpack, but little things make a difference. We are very lucky to have families that were willing to put us up for the time we were visiting. And for all of the things they are willing to help us with. Jason's family sent us home with some more baby things and some of their abundant food. My family sent us home with apple pie filling and apples. I'm sure they would have been more than happy to send tomatoes and peppers with us as well! We had a wonderful time on our vacation, but it's nice to be home. Jason decided to come home early to spend some time with us. He doesn't work tomorrow so he'll have lots of time with us.

I'm not sure who Jay is looking at, but he has such a cute look on his face! He was extremely happy to see Jason. Jason played with Jay until supper was ready. I'm sure he's looking forward to some time with him. It's going to be a long week trying to get back to "normal" and trying to get some food processed. Next week we take Jay to the urologist in Iowa City or his hypospadias consultation. I'm a little nervous about when they want to schedule Jay's surgery. I know Jay will be fine. Just keep him in your thoughts and prayers for us!

More Vacation

We're in Olin now and still having fun. We've gotten to ride in the Slaters' new combine and tomorrow the plan is to go visit more grandparents and visit a pumpkin farm. There is a lot of harvesting going on! We've gotten to play with Ethan and Audrey and visit with Grandma Rose. There are new toys to play with, too. I'm hoping I'll be able to can some jalapeno jelly before I leave, but it's not a top priority.
I think Jay is really starting to miss Jason. We Skype with Jason every night, but Jay is starting to get fussy when we talk. I think Jay misses his bed too. (I know I do!) We'll be going home soon enough, though, and are very thankful we have a wonderful family that let's us visit and even encourages it! Here is Jay getting ready for his first tractor ride! I think he had a good time with Grandma, especially since Mom was holding him.

Vacation

Jay and I are enjoying our vacation. We arrived Friday afternoon after an almost 6 hour drive. (Jay was pretty after our first stop. He did sleep a little more after that, then not again til we were almost to Preston. It was a long drive.) We went with Mom and Dad to the Northeast football game to see the marching band perform. It was very windy which made it pretty cold. Jay slept until 10 am Saturday morning since we wore him out so much!
We took it pretty easy on Saturday. Dad watched Jay, Allegra and Mason while Jamie, Mom and I went to a woman's group at their church. It was very fun and it was nice to have some girl time. We used Skype to talk to Jason for a little bit, then went to bed earlier than we normally do.
Today we went to church, then the fireman's pancake breakfast. Grandma and Grandpa Jacobs were there to help hold and entertain. We also Skyped with Jason again and will continue to do so everyday we're gone.
We have also discovered that Jay does not like the work "ta-da". Whenever Dad says it, he starts to cry! It's strange. I hope he grows out of it.
